We made cyanographs today. The process was invented in 1842. The sunlight was bright almost all day. Melanie was trying out ideas on how to transfer text to fabrics. Plastic letters normally used on a message board were placed on the fabric sheets and exposed to the sun for 5 minutes. The sheets were washed, rinsed, then air dried.
As soon as I saw these, I remembered doing the same thing. Where or when? I can’t remember that, but I suspect it might have been at summer camp. It’s a neat technique.
Lots of kids have done these with prepared papers and cloth. You can also buy the chemicals and prepare materials yourself.
Fifth graders used this technique with leaves on cloth squares. I made a wall quilt of it that hung in the school hallway for years.
Excellent!
Wonderful!
I never thought of transferring the images to fabric. What a wonderful idea, and I love the messages you created.
