Our View From Iowa is very unusual today. We were ready to back out for an errand run and watched this truck come down our cul de sac and get hung up and stuck in front of our house. The trailer wheels are on a steep slope. The tractor is on ice with no traction. The dispatcher suggested he try to unhitch. The twist puts a bind on the hitch and it won’t release. The driver asked me if I had some bleach. His dad told him that would help with traction.
Poor guy. I told him to come in for warmth, bathroom, or a cup of coffee when needed.

It was another one of those things that you know will happen, can’t stop from happening, know that once it’s done, not much good will come from it… all in slow motion…

If you burn wood, the ash and spent coals help with traction and as an ice melter.
I have heard about getting stuck in one’s driveway, but this is a new one.
This looks like almost as much fun as getting caught on the top of a snowbank, with all four wheels in the air.
He did have at LEAST four wheels in the air! The back trailer wheels on the right hung there until the wrecker came and let it down. The back tractor wheels were alternately hanging in mid-air, too. It was interesting to watch the wrecker pull him free. Good work.
High-centered?
Good grief–you’d never expect a tractor trailer to come down a cul de sac on a snowy day. The poor driver. . . I hate to think about what his company will say to him about getting stuck there.
Yes. It took him out of work for about 4 hours plus the cost of the tow truck. He was very friendly about it all. He came to the door before he left to say thanks for our offer of the bathroom, warmth, and coffee.
I wonder if this is the sort of thing he’ll be unmercifully teased about, from other drivers. It looks pretty embarrassing !
I expect his pride was hurt! It was a bad decision, and he didn’t make it better on his own. But he seemed like a nice guy…

Once the sequence of events started, there was no stopping it. It all turned out ok except for a small branch on a tree not visible on the other side of the truck.
Why was such a large truck on a cul de sac?
I don’t know. I talked with the driver to invite him in for warmth, bathroom, coffee while he tried for 3 hrs to get loose. I didn’t ask that specific question. It seems a bad choice let to another and another…etc.
Finally a tow truck helped him out.
